Auto-MDI/MDIX feature
Auto-MDI/MDIX eliminates the need for crossover cabling by performing an internal crossover when a straight cable is detected during the auto-negotiation phase.
Auto-MDI/MDIX configuration details
For all switch ports, the default auto-negotiation setting also includes the Auto-MDI/MDIX feature. The interface enables Auto-MDI/MDIX when either the speed or duplex is set to auto-negotiate. If you set both the speed and duplex to fixed values, auto-negotiation is disabled, and Auto-MDI/MDIX is also disabled. When the speed and duplex are set to 1000 and full, the interface always auto-negotiates. Auto-MDI/MDIX enabled in this state, and disabling it is not possible.
