Interfaces

An interface is a network connection point that

  • can be assigned to a security zone, an interface group, or both,

  • enables application of security policies based on zones or groups, and

  • supports flexible traffic control between different network segments.

Security zone and interface group assignments

Each interface can be assigned to a security zone, an interface group, or both. Apply your security policy based on zones or groups. For example, assign the "inside" interface to the "inside" zone and the "outside" interface to the "outside" zone. Configure the access control policy to allow traffic from inside to outside and block traffic from outside to inside. Some policies support only security zones. Other policies support both zones and groups.
