Platform settings policies
A platform settings policy is a shared set of features or parameters that
-
define aspects of managed devices that are likely to be similar to other managed devices in a deployment, such as time settings and external authentication,
-
enable configuration of multiple managed devices at once, providing consistency and streamlining management efforts, and
-
apply changes to all managed devices where the policy is used, requiring creation and application of shared policies even for device-specific settings.
Platform settings policy reference information
Use platform settings policies to enforce security requirements, such as displaying a login banner message, and to manage device configurations efficiently.
-
You can set a “No Unauthorized Use” message for appliance logins using platform settings policies.
-
You can apply multiple platform settings policies to a single Cloud-Delivered Firewall Management Center to accommodate different mail relay hosts or access lists.
Platform settings policy example
Your organization’s security policies may require that appliances display a “No Unauthorized Use” message when a user logs in. With platform settings, you can set the login banner once in a platform settings policy.
Multiple platform settings policy example
If your organization has different mail relay hosts that you use for different circumstances or if you want to test different access lists, you can create several platform settings policies and switch between them, rather than editing a single policy.
